The Kafana was inspired by numerous places, people, and moments — sometimes in kafanas around the world, other times around a village table at home. There is a real and tangible “something” that happens when good people gather with good food and make good music.
"Kafana" essentially means "cafe" or "taverna," but for us it's more like home. You don't know who you might find there, but you know you'll find some friends and some family. It's a social hub of the village community - a place to drop by, a place to stay a while. In Europe, these cafes stay open late and the atmosphere is welcoming for all ages. Don't be surprised to see small children dozing off on the benches, or grandmas sipping coffee or rakiya and tapping their feet to the music.
Our mission is to create this atmosphere here in Belleville - to create a place where our friends and neighbors can come, relax, eat & drink, and stay as long as they like. It's not a bar, though we do have a bar here. It's not quite a restaurant either, though we do have delicious food here. It's not really a cafe either, though we have plenty of coffee for you, too. It's hard to explain - it's just "the kafana," and we hope you'll help us make it everything you want in a place.
Our favourite kafanas come alive from the people who love them and want to spend time in them. So please, tell us what you want to see on the menu, at the bar, on the playlist.
Our favourite core value as a team is "prioritize joy," and we hope The Kafana will bring you lots of joyful memories and moments for years to come.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
