Event Description
Paul Black is a blues-rock artist based in Victoria, BC, known for fusing the raw grit of rock with the soul and storytelling of the blues. His latest album, Beautiful Sin, is a powerful 11-track release that captures nearly a decade of personal and musical evolution. With a sound that’s both emotionally charged and sonically bold, Beautiful Sin showcases Paul’s growth as a songwriter and performer, blending heavy guitar textures, heartfelt lyrics, and haunting harmonys
The album was recorded at One Ton Studios in Victoria with producer and Hammond player Wynn Gogol. Sessions began just before the pandemic and were paused for over a year, ultimately allowing Paul to revisit and re-record several tracks with a deeper emotional edge. The result is an album that feels raw, real, and fully lived-in—both a sonic diary and a tribute to creative persistence.
Beautiful Sin has already earned critical acclaim, including a nomination for Blues Album of the Year from the Western Canadian Music Awards. Recent live performances include a standout set at the Toronto Jazz Festival and over 20 shows since the album’s release. And with the help of Sarah French Beautiful Sin
When not on stage or in the studio, Paul finds balance in the quiet moments—riding along the island coast, fishing, or spending time with his wife and two kids. With new material already in the works, he’s preparing for his next studio project, aiming for a 2026 release that pushes his sound into bold new territory.
