Event Description
ADVENTURE FILM COLLECTIVE - Film Series
PRESENTED BY THE BOW VALLEY FILM INSTITUTE
------
We have three films on January 3, 7pm. These films are deeply rooted in the Rocky Mountains - not just as a landscape, but as a place of memory, loss, and belonging.
Wildflowers looks back more than a century, retracing Mary Schäffer Warren’s pioneering journeys through Jasper. Through her story, we’re reminded how curiosity, courage, and care for the land have long shaped how we move through these mountains. English, 37min Trailer
Embers brings us into the present, bearing witness to the Jasper wildfire. In the aftermath of destruction, the film follows an intimate process of grief and resilience, asking how we respond when a place we love is forever changed. English, 24min Trailer
Ahon turns to community and the future. Set against the same peaks, it centres the Filipino Canadian climbers of the K8 Mountaineering Club, showing how access, mentorship, and shared experience can redefine who belongs in the mountains. English, 21min Trailer
Together, these films reflect the Rockies as a living place - shaped by history, challenged by climate, and strengthened by the people who continue to find meaning within them.
