Event Description
The Tony Kaye Trio is an electrifying blues/rock band with stage performances at musical festivals and top blues venues in Saskatchewan, NWT, and Alberta. “The Tony Kaye Trio is a high energy Blues Band,” says Mike Clark, Mikey’s Juke Joint, “every player has stunning chops and play with total conviction to the genre.”
Opening for John Mayall was a feature performance for the band that was also the unofficial release of their debut CD, “Boredom is the Devil’s Tool.” As Kevin Warren, Calgary music promoter for the show, emphasizes: “This tight & gritty power blues unit nailed it that night as they always do when performing live. Definitely one of my favorite Canadian blues bands.”
“Tony Kaye and his band are wonderful professionals,” says Erika Nyyssonen, Director of the Snowking Winter Festival in Yellowknife, “if you’re looking for a night of electrifying blues guitar and a rhythm section that moves your hips, the Tony Kaye Trio will bring the house down, guaranteed.”
To celebrate the band’s value to the local music scene, the title track won the 2015 Blues Recording of the Year at the prestigious Edmonton Music Awards Gala, an event that awards the city’s finest recording artists in many genres. The recognition points to the future promise the Tony Kaye Trio has in contributing to Canadian blues and rock music, and makes them a band to listen for original music.
