Agnès est une jeune femme maintenue dès son plus jeune âge en retrait de la vie sociale. C’est qu’Arnolphe, homme d’âge mûr chargé de son éducation, l’a volontairement soustraite à toute influence extérieure pour se garantir une épouse docile et assez idiote pour lui rester fidèle et lui obéir. Jusqu’au jour où Agnès rencontre le jeune Horace…
Écrite en alexandrins par Molière, cette version sera adaptée en prose par Sylvain Sabatié afin de faire écho aux enjeux sociaux de notre époque.
