Pianist/composer/arranger Attila Fias and his fantastic band are presenting a beautiful jazz concert, featuring Juno-nominated vocalist Karin Plato coming over from Vancouver!
Attila and Karin will explore well-loved jazz standards and hidden gems with unique arrangements, blending deep swing, lilting Brazilian bossa nova/samba rhythms, and home grown blues. Dynamic drummer Hans Verhoeven and groovy bassist Louis Rudner will round out the rhythm section, and the soulful Roy Styffe from Naden band will join on saxophone to complete the group.
Expect adventurous, hip and captivating vocal performances by Karin as she interacts with Attila and the other musicians. There will be some instrumentals too, including Attila’s exciting original compositions, along with daring musical moments and lots of fun, positive energy and high-level jazz to enjoy, so don’t miss this one!
Attila Fias, a Hungarian-born, Toronto-raised platinum-selling pianist and composer who makes his home in Victoria BC, is renowned for seamlessly blending various genres of music with jazz. Recognized for his spectacular and pyrotechnic playing, critics also praise him as a lyrical piano interpreter breathing new life into others' works. He has performed on prestigious stages worldwide and collaborated with numerous internationally acclaimed musicians.
Karin Plato is an acclaimed Canadian Juno nominated Jazz vocalist and recording artist. She has performed throughout Canada and in the western USA for concert societies and at jazz festivals. She works as a composer, arranger, music educator, concert producer, and is the artistic director of the JOY OF JAZZ CONCERTS series in Vancouver BC.
