Event Description
Join KFPL and the Chinese Canadian Association of Kingston and District (CCAKD) for an afternoon of Lunar New Year festivities!
The festivities will begin with tours of the Central Branch, meeting at 9:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m., and starting in the foyer. The Tallack Martial Art School will perform a traditional Lion Dance throughout the branch, making their way to Meet 1 at 10:25 a.m. There, visitors can enjoy a variety of performances, including a traditional Chinese musical performance, a cultural music and dance performance by Queen's University students, dance routines by the Kingston School of Dance and the CCAKD Folk Dancing Team, as well as Tai Chi and Kung Fu demonstrations.
Additional activities include:
· Couplets and writing workshop in Meet 2 at 11:30 a.m.
· Bilingual (English/Mandarin) Lunar New Year Family Storytime with EarlyON in the Gather Space at 11:30 a.m, followed by a Year-of-the-Snake craft.
· Light refreshments provided by Asian Food World will be served throughout the morning on the second-floor landing.
· Children's face painting inspired by Spring Festival symbols will be available throughout the morning outside the Create Space.
This event is in partnership with the Chinese Canadian Association of Kingston and District and sponsored by the Friends of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library.
