Alex Southey’s dreamy indie rock lives at the intersection of shoegaze and folk. By fusing these disparate genres together with cerebral, emotionally insightful songwriting he is one of the most authentic and endearing voices in this generation of Canadian indie musicians.

Southey began as a solo acoustic artist in 2019. With each subsequent release (2019 Christmastown LP, the 2020 follow-up You’re Not Just A Body to Me LP, 2021’s …And the Country Stirred, its 2022 little brother My Nights On the Island EP, 2023’s Common Fantasies EP, and most recently 2024’s exalting alt-folk Entertainers Bring May Flowers Collection EP), Southey has developed an increasingly passionate fanbase, along with positive recognition, play, and coverage from CBC, SiriusXM, Billboard Canada, Exclaim!, Dominionated, Canadian Beats, NXNE, Wintersong Festival, Tinnitist, The Sound Cafe, CHCH Morning Show, and a slew of Canadian and American college and community radio stations.

He is the creator and host of the Your Worst Song Podcast (new episodes every Monday and sometimes Thursday).
