Experience the captivating and mesmerizing performance by the Dancers of Damelahamid, a dance company that preserves and celebrates the culture and traditions of the Gitxsan people of northwestern British Columbia. Their performances showcase the rich heritage of their community through dance, music, and storytelling. The company's artistic director, Margaret Grenier, leads the troupe in performing traditional and contemporary works that highlight the deep connection between the Gitxsan people and their land. The Dancers of Damelahamid's spellbinding performances have been praised for their artistry, athleticism, and authenticity, and have received acclaim across Canada and internationally. Pay What You Want can be attended by simply booking your free ticket online, by phone 613-530-2050 or in person at Kingston Grand Theatre box office. All we encourage is that you consider a voluntary payment upon exiting the theatre that reflects your experience that evening. JP Longboat is a Storyteller and Multi-disciplinary Artist. He is Kanyen’kehà:ka (Mohawk), Turtle Clan, and grew up along the River Ouse, Haldimand Deed territory, Ontario. He has a BFA through combined education at the University of Michigan and Ontario College of Art and Design. He has extensive professional training and practice in traditional and contemporary forms of visual art and live performance.

JP has trained, collaborated, and performed with many professional theatre and dance companies across Canada. His work emanates from the cultural ways of his people, and his creative process is grounded in the legacy of First Nations artistic practice. He is the founder and Associate Director of Circadia Indigena – Indigenous Arts Collective based in Algonquin territory, along the Kichi sibi at Akikodjiwan Falls. The collective creates full-length performance works and land-based multi-disciplinary festivals. JP has also served as a Program Officer in Dance at the Canada Council for the Arts and has been on the faculty of Aboriginal Arts at the Banff Centre for the Arts. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Indigenous Performing Arts Alliance.
