The Mustang Drive-In Theatre in Prince Edward County is hosting Kingston's China Cat Riders, for an afternoon of socially distant music from the comfort of your car (or close to it). Treat your ears to the sounds of The Grateful Dead.
The Band
The China Cat Riders are veterans of the Kingston music scene who love the music of The Grateful Dead. We’re digging in the mystical mine that the Dead forged through the sonic centre of rock and roll. The China Cat Riders are Heads and we know that Dead Heads are looking for the rapturous whoop. The Heads know that they are part of the aching beauty and flowering crescendos that flow out of the amplifiers. We know that there is a shared and special consciousness in the best jams, and we try to float that slinky psychedelic funk about three feet above the ground and let it unravel and flit about in the guts and limbs of our audience. We cut deep into American Psychedelia in order to milk that groovy vibe.
The Experience
This is a space-limited event and is enjoyed from the safety of your vehicle and 12 feet away from your nearest neighbour. The band is over 50 feet away from the first row and elevated to ensure maximum visibility and safety for all patrons. We ask that you only leave your vehicle to visit our washrooms or takeout window.
How you listen is up to you: You are welcome to enjoy the experience from the back of your car or bed of your truck, or maybe you prefer the comfort of sitting in your front seats. As of today, we can't allow dancing outside of your vehicle but clapping and seat dancing is highly encouraged.
