The University of Victoria’s Visual Arts graduating class will be showcasing their work in a final year exhibition titled Don’t Need to Know to Feel It, from April 15th-23rd. There will be an opening celebration held on April 15th in the Visual Arts Building on campus. The exhibition will highlight the work of 23 emerging artists created over the course of the year. The collection will include sculpture, performance, installation, painting, drawing, digital media, and animation.
Don’t Need to Know to Feel it is a reminder that what we do as artists isn’t just for us, but for the whole world. We make it a responsibility to acknowledge the threads that intertwine us to other beings and objects that exist in the spaces surrounding us. Understanding beauty, magnificence, and joy is not something you can learn, and therefore you need not know anything to feel it. Everything eventually melts into something else. And so on, and so on, and so on.
