Ludic’s “music is fun… and loaded with elements of classic rock, late ’80s dance/funk, and angular indie rock.” – Vancouver Sun

Vancouver-based Ludic exude a delightfully bright and unique brand of groovy tunes. The trio consists of guitarist/vocalist Ayla Tesler-Mabe, drummer Rhett Cunningham, and guitarist/bassist/vocalist Max Cunningham. Drawing from great music icons such as Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan, and modern soul pioneers such as Hiatus Kiayote; Ludic seamlessly blend vintage and present soul, funk, jazz, and pop, creating music for a wide-array of listeners. Their single, “My Love,” features rhythms reminiscent of 70’s funk with up-beat soul and jazz-driven bass lines. With phenomenal guitar licks of Ayla Tesler-Mabe that breath the vintage precision and explorative interest of an early Jimmy Page or David Gilmour and dreamy soulful vocals, this amalgamation of genres is undeniably timeless. Ludic have quickly made a striking impact to their local Vancouver music scene, intriguing listeners with their unique soundscapes and electric performances. With an air of ease, Ludic express complex depth as if it were a walk in the park – and with all three members under the age of 21, the world is their playground.

“Soul, straight from horn to heart…[The Suffers] are on fire when in front of an audience.”— NPR

There is a contagious and combustible energy every time the eight-piece band from Houston, Texas, The Suffers, steps onto the stage. The Suffers exploded onto the scene in 2015 with their dazzling EP Make Some Room, which was followed by their critically heralded self-titled debut in 2016. Their latest 2018 release, Everything Here, is the band’s most bold statement yet. Lead Singer Kam Franklin states, “Our hope is that our fans walk away feeling empowered, resilient, and inspired to live a better life.” The Suffers have got everything you need with no need to look further – a heaping dose of soul, a dash of reggae, a splash of jazz, a pinch of salsa, a hint of rock ‘n’ roll and a dollop of hip hop and funk – and that is just a few ingredients simmering inside their magical Gulf Coast soul. They first appeared at TD JazzFest 2019 indoors at McPherson Playhouse, and now return to party on the outdoor stage at Bullen Park! Juliet Terrill bass, Kevin Bernier guitar, Michael Razo trombone, Jon Durbin trumpet, Nick Zamora drums, Jose “Chapy” Luna percussion
