Life is good. Choirs are back singing together and we at EnChor Choir have much to celebrate. We invite you to come share the joy of our music-making on Sunday, May 1 at 2:30pm when we present Four Strong Winds, Celebrating Life and Song.
Artistic Director, Morna Edmundson, has chosen a program of familiar and newer choral works that speak to the resilience of our wonderful community of singers. Favourite Canadians are in the mix, including Allan Bevan, Larry Nickel, Sarah Quartel, and Ron Smail. Also works by Aaron Copland, Joshua Rist, Shawn Kirchner and Eric Whitacre. A special treat will be the world premiere of Good Night by Vancouver composer Stephen Smith, commissioned for EnChor by alto Heather Ireland.
This year, we're celebrating the 15th Anniversary of EnChor, so founding Artistic Director Diane Loomer's arrangement of Away from the Roll of the Sea is on the program. Choirs around the world sing and love her signature arrangement of this folk song by Cape Breton's Allistair MacGillivray.
COVID PROTOCOLS: Regardless of what the Public Health Orders are at the time of the concert, we ask for your understanding that EnChor will continue to require our audience members wear masks and show proof of vaccination. Masks will be available at the door for those who need one.
