The Zebra Art Collective presents “A Working Studio Art Show,” an ambitious exhibition showcasing the work of 11 artists. The event is held at the Victoria Arts Council Gallery at 636 Fort Street, from May 12-24. Opening Reception is Saturday, May 12, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., with the public admitted any time after 12:00 p.m. for general viewing. The show will be open Saturday to Wednesday 12:00-5:00 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 12:00-8:00 p.m.
The title “Working Studio” derives from the fact that artists will be painting on site throughout the event. The works in the show express diverse styles and subject matter, ranging from abstract to figurative and representational. Members of the Zebra Art Collective have displayed their work locally at juried and non-juried shows, as well as in galleries, cafes, and the Victoria airport. This show will be an exceptional opportunity for art lovers to view and purchase original works, as well as to meet with the artists.
The Zebra Art Collective (ZAC) was formed in May of 2015 when a group of artists who had painted together under the guidance of Michelle Miller, an accomplished abstract artist, decided to take over the studio when the lease became available. The Collective Studio is in the Annex of St. Matthias Church at the corner of Richmond and Richardson in Fairfield. Members have access to the studio seven days a week but often meet in groups on various evenings throughout the week.
