Vocalist/composer/lyricist Jaclyn Guillou is a young talent who emerged on the scene in 2009 and is a recipient of the Galaxie Rising Star Award for her performance at the Vancouver Jazz Festival. Inspired by Blue Note albums from the 60s and notable singers like Sheila Jordan, Nancy King, Theo Bleckmann, Kate McGarry and Kurt Elling, Jaclyn merges modern jazz elements with a fresh new personal approach adding her distinctive lyrics and arrangements to popular and original tunes.
Genuine, soulful, romantic, thought provoking and personable are just a few ways to describe her music. Since 2010 Jaclyn has been touring vigorously, bringing her music to remote areas of Europe, USA and Canada. Some of these venues include the Birdland Jazz Club, Yardbird Suite, The Rex and has an upcoming show at Yoshi's in San Francisco.
This new quintet, co-led by Jaclyn, Bruno and David, will be presenting original compositions and arrangements that are unique to this group. They have building this repertoire in a series of concerts and will be recording an album sometime very soon. Come check them out live and hear them in action.
