this is THE SHOES
www.thisistheshoes.com
this is THE SHOES is a Vancouver-based blues duo on a mission to usher the sounds of the delta into the Pacific Northwest of the 21st century.
"The kind of blues that brings to mind corrugated-tin juke joints and back-yard bourbon stills." – Mike Usinger, The Georgia Straight
“There’s been a new child born from the womb of The Blues. It’s a wondrous two headed offspring called ‘this is The Shoes’. And while this child may grow up to be wild, it will also grow up strong and sturdy and righteous because it has a strong foundation. It will carry on a fine tradition, speaking new words, but in a voice with which the fortunate among us are familiar. It will walk down lonely roads and through barren fields, on a path that will eventually – inevitably – lead to the crossroads. Do you hear that sound? It’s the barking of the Hellhound.” - Cory McCrindle, Grayowl Point
Pigeon Park
http://pigeonparkmusic.com/
Pigeon Park is a rock band based out of Vancouver, British Columbia. Intertwined with blues, reggae, and funk infused roots, the band has crafted a sound that is truly their own. Branching out into many styles of music, they continue to grow with the seasons. Pigeon Park was formed in 2008 out of a mutual love for creating and writing music shared between founding members Nick Weber (Vocals) Kevin Okabe (Guitars) Logan Pacholok (Guitars and Vocals) Artur Leppert (Bass) and Hunter Elliott (Drums). Together the five of them began a musical journey embarking on two Cross Canada tours and recording two albums, the latter of which “The Sun” got them distribution deals in Sweden and Montreal.
With inspiration flowing from a wide range of influences, the band has crafted a sound that cant really be put into one specific genre. Over the years Pigeon Park has continued to develop a fan base across the country, getting the opportunity to play festival shows in Vancouver and tour with established bands in Eastern Canada.
This past summer the band journeyed out east for their second tour which saw them travel 10,000km from their home of British Columbia to Quebec. Upon return from the tour the band stepped into the studio for their new EP due out late spring, the bands new single and music video “Lovelight” was released in April.
