Event Description
. Thursday, December 7th IMU & CiTR present The Skatomatics & Bughouse 5 Double Tour Homecoming Party with The Dreadnoughts & Kyle Fury @ The BUFFALO CLUB, 1161 Granville St. 8pm / $10
The SKATOMATICS - Fresh from last month's sold out CD release show at the Lamplighter, The Skatomatics will draw you irresistably to your feet with their blend of 4x4 time and a brass section. Featuring former members of Edmonton's Mad Bomber Society and Halifax ska pioneers Dr. Skankworthy, The Skatomatics bonded over their love for bands like The Police, Sublime, King Apparatus and The Clash. http://www.skatomatics.com
The BUGHOUSE 5 - Be sure to come out and celebrate The Bughouse 5's homecoming show, fresh off the road from their cross-Canada tour in support of their recently released fifth CD, "24 Hour Charlie". Released in Novmeber on Northern Electric to rave reviews, the band delivers an orginal blend of rockabilly, blues, swamp rock, tex mex, beat-inspired, true story blues poetry and straight ahead rock 'n' roll. "Fuel-injected country blues for the thinking, drinking and dancing set, the band's songwriting is as surefooted as it's rhythm and twang." -- TV Week http://myspace.com/bughouse5
The DREADNOUGHTS - Ball-busting Celt-punk from Vancouver's newest group of drunken misfits, with a shot of pirate-shanty, a shot of Irish melody and a triple-chaser of street punk. The result is a powerful live sound, with whirling fiddles, mandolins and accordions inviting you into a world of drink and debauchery. Imagine Rancid had their tour bus hijacked by a group of inebriated gypsies... and you're beginning to understand. Be sure to come out and catch these young up-and-comers who recently opened for The Real McKenzies!
KYLE FURY - Out of the depths of hell or out of sheer boredom come the vocal stylings of Kyle Fury. With influences like Johnny Cash, Mike Ness, Vic Ruggiero & Chris Murray, Kyle Fury strips down the horn madness of The Furios and plays one on one with the audience. Playing songs from the Furios as well as his own original material, Kyle also mixes in well-known cover songs from bands like Sublime, Social Distortion and the Slackers. Kentucky Fried Reggae? Country Styled Ska? Who knows? It's a man, his guitar and one too many beers. How can you go wrong? Dance hombre dance!!! http://www.myspace.com/kylefury
