Nobuhiko Obayashi's 1977 psychedelic piece of phantasmagoria pits seven high school girls in a eerie, hilltop house with a reclusive aunt who consumes them one at a time in increasingly violent and novel ways. Combining brilliant visuals with elements of comedy and the macabre, Hausu is an inventive cult rarity presented with English subtitles previously missing from all releases of the film.
