About

Colin James Nelson

Instruments: Guitar, Vocals details
I'm a lead, backup vocalist & been in bands since 1978. I play blues harp and some tenor sax. Rock, blues/rock, country fried blues are my favourite genres. I opened up for Aldo Nova at one point and presently sit in with groups/artists. I used to be a vocal teacher at a local music school and still mentor people. I've been giving harp lessons, even though I have no formal training in harp, but I've been constantly playing since I was 10 years old. Playing by ear and sight reading has helped tremendously. I used to sing for a Production Company doing radio jingles, but that was sporadic. Around that time, I was flying back and forth to Toronto, singing for an amazing blues Lady, the name of Jodi Drake. We'd play at Loew's Westbury on Yonge, Uptown Jazz Chic n' Deli on Mount Pleasant. She introduced me to Kenny Ray Neal. We played a gig together. When I crashed at his amazing home, & I asked him why he had pics of Bruno Gerusi (Beachcombers). His father-in-law. Amazing people u meet.
