Sometimes sitting around drinking beers in a buddy's basement can lead to a lot of those 'seemed like a good idea at the time' moments the next morning, but once in awhile you get lucky.
Such was the case a couple years ago when friends Mark Pocock and Andrew Laing got together to hoist a few and jam on guitar with a freind in his girlfriends basement. The two decided they wanted to do more with their music than entertain the bottom half of a house, so the idea was formed to form a band, and Alt Rock band Between Takes was born.
Mark had been writing songs for years, but it wasn't until he and Andrew started to collaborate that the songs really started to come to life. With influences as diverse as The Goo Goo Dolls, Our Lady Peace, Oasis, and The Matthew Good Band, the boys learned to craft songs that strong melodic hooks and memorable lyrics.
In early 2009, the two headed into the studio to record their debut EP, the self titled Between Takes, under the watchful eye and ear of producer John Franco ( Gob, By a Thread). John was instrumental in helping to craft the boys wall of sound, and if was a chance to put down some serious tracks and begin to carve out the Between Takes sound.
In 2010, the boys wanted to not only round out the sound, but gather some kindred spirits to tour with. They recruited red bull inspired, endless energy Roddy MacIsaac to thump on bass, and added a talented and experienced killer drummer in Amanda Hamilton. Time to hit the road and do some shows.
In their first year together, the band scored airplay with their single, 'See You Again' on Virgin Radio as one of their 'Best in BC" selections, they played countless shows around Vancouver building a loyal, vocal following, and beat out over 450 bands to make the 2010 CFOX Vancouver Seeds top 20.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
