Warjunk, based in Vancouver BC, Canada has three core members, Graham Allan Glen MacLeod and Deon Scott .
“Without Wax was made as organically as possible. We basically recorded the songs as we wrote them. There was not a lot of tinkering and second guessing. We wanted to avoid studio tan,” says guitarist Glen MacLeod.
Warjunk’s live shows are a choreography of biopic film-making, avante garde art clips and visual images that Graham Allan produces as a visual note to the songs. Each CD has a film scripted to it while it is being produced so the end result is an aural and visual production for the live show.
2005’s CD “Without Wax” compromises 12 original tracks written by the members individually and collaboratively. Their first two CDs were mixed by GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine). “Without Wax” and their previous CD “Radiate” feature guest drummer Vince R. Ditrich (Spirit Of The West). This CD was self-produced allowing them to utilize their other professional talents of studio production and mixing at Vancouver’s Hole In The Ground Studio.
Warjunk cites their influences in lyrics and music to include NIN, David Bowie, Nick Cave, Depeche Mode, and The Mars Volta.
“Safe Haven” has a hint of the Red Hot Chili Peppers while “(I Can’t) Wait” has the passion of NIN.
“Without Wax” is the direct Latin translation from an early Greek sculpting term meaning “sincerity in pure form”. Warjunk, in its pure form incorporates songs, visuals and motion in their CD’s and in their live shows.
