Meet Steve G, a proud native of Plaster Rock, NB, whose roots are deeply intertwined with rural traditions of fishing, hunting, and farm work, all harmonized by the tunes of Country and Gospel music.
Steve's musical odyssey traces back to his early days, sparked by the influence of friends, which led him to drumming in church settings and country gatherings. His journey took a distinctive turn when he joined the Army Cadets at the age of 14, delving into diverse military escapades during summer camps.
Post high school, Steve ventured into the world of lumber mills while concurrently pursuing flying lessons with aspirations of becoming a private pilot. A defining moment at the mill spurred a shift in his trajectory, propelling him to apply to the RCMP and the Canadian Armed Forces.
Opting for a military scholarship, he embarked on a transformative chapter at the Royal Military College, immersing himself in Strategic Studies and Psychology alongside rigorous military training. Balancing academics, Steve also showcased his athletic prowess through college football and sharpened his marksmanship skills as a competitive pistol shooter for the RMC team.
Upon graduation, Steve's path led him to the Royal Canadian Dragoons, where he served across the expanse of Canada and undertook deployments to Bosnia. Amid the rigors of military life, his zest for adventure extended to pursuits like SCUBA diving and parachuting.
Despite the demands of his military career, his passion for music persisted. Transitioning from drums to guitar, Steve embarked on a self-taught musical journey, occasionally seeking guidance from peers.
