Event Description
Crab Water For Life Society received funding and support from The Community Arts Council of Vancouver, Raycam Community Centre and Co-op Radio.
So we've put together our first Victory Square Festival.
Saturday, August 14, 2-5pm
This historic site, dedicated to all who gave their lives in international conflicts, is located just a couple of short blocks Northwest of the Stadium skytrain station.
Right smack dab in the middle of Cambie-Pender-Hamilton & Hastings streets.
This is one of many Arts Council events celebrating and promoting the dynamic and vibrant downtown eastside.
All acts have been confirmed:
* Waltz Darling http://www.myspace.com/waltzdarling
They're on first at 2pm with their Eastern European slant on rock and roll!
They've been featured on Urban Rush and are a favourite of such local dynamos as Big John Bates! I've been plying them for years on Radio Bandcouver.
* The second act at 3pm is The Van Eyes 3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_jqZsF34g0
Featuring: Ian Tiles on drums, back from a successful Japanese tour with The Pointed Sticks.
Ron Scott from Shanghai Dog on guitar
and:
The master of keyboard: Micheal Van Eyes
* The 3rd act at 4pm is Parlour Steps http://www.myspace.com/parloursteps
They've been compared to such acts as Arcade Fire and XTC and would fit in nicely between the two. They're currently a featured band in The Peak Performance Project, and are guests at this year's Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle.
We'll see you there. Did I mention it was free?
