Curtis Chaffey is a Canadian guitarist, songwriter, and co-founder of The Split, a powerhouse soul and blues outfit out of Ottawa. Alongside his brother Matthew Chaffey. He is also well know in these parts as the famous guitarist for Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar! Catch him for the first time playing solo on Thu, May 14, 2026.
Curtis has spent years shaping a sound rooted in 60s soul, blues, and funk, blending vintage groove with a modern edge. Originally performing together in their earlier project, the Brothers Chaffey, the duo evolved into The Split in 2011, sharpening their focus on rhythm-driven, horn-infused soul music. Curtis Chaffey is known for his textured, groove-heavy guitar work—anchoring the band’s sound with a mix of tight rhythm playing and expressive lead lines—while helping drive the band’s dynamic live shows and collaborative energy onstage. The Split has become a staple of the Ottawa music scene and beyond, earning a reputation for high-energy performances and deep musical chemistry.
