Join UVic School of Music horn instructor Sam McNally and pianist Jany Lu for an evening of music inspired by the night and the stories we tell before bed. Featuring works by Elizabeth Raum, Franz Strauss, Trygve Madsen, Cait Nishimura, and more, this is a show that is sure to leave you dreaming!
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Horn player Sam McNally is a graduate of the UVic School of Music (BMus with distinction) and London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama (MMus) where he studied with distinguished teachers including Laurie Matiation, Kurt Kellan, David Pyatt, Alec Frank-Gemmill, Sue Dent, and Nico Fleury. Third Horn of the Victoria Symphony, Sam also serves as Principal Horn of the Kamloops and Okanagan Symphonies. He has been a dedicated faculty member at the Penticton Academy of Music and teaches horn at the UVic School of Music. Passionate about both performing and teaching, he brings warmth, precision, and artistry to every stage.
Victoria-based pianist Jany Lu is a dedicated performer and teacher on the faculty of the Victoria Conservatory of Music. She is active as a collaborative pianist with ensembles and local series, and her students have earned top awards at festivals and Royal Conservatory examinations. Jany Lu studied piano performance at the Victoria Conservatory of Music and UVic with May Ling Kwok, and Piano Pedagogy and Performance with Midori Koga at University of Toronto.
