“I consider the human face to be a landscape. For this show we are talking about
Soulscapes—all of which is right there in the expression of our faces.” – Bill Porter

Featured Artists
Ainsley Guzmán Jason
Ainsley is a figurative painter and muralist whose work explores emotional transformation and inner resilience. Since earning her BFA from Alberta University of the Arts in 2017, she has created murals and commissioned pieces across Canada. Her work has been featured in the Comox Valley Record and exhibited at Gage Gallery. Currently, she is painting the world’s largest portrait of Nelson Mandela for a global humanitarian exhibition. Through luminous acrylics and layered brushwork, Ainsley creates emotionally charged portraits that reflect the journey from despair to clarity.
Cathy Key
Cathy is a mixed media artist known for her large-scale, multi-layered portraits that celebrate our deep connection with the natural world. Winner of the 2023 People’s Choice Award at the Sooke Fine Arts Show and a 2024 Gold List Award recipient from Art Market Magazine, Cathy combines vintage botanical illustrations, metallics, inks, and glazes in her richly textured works. With a PhD in Anthropology and decades of experience in yoga and ecstatic dance, her art is rooted in personal self-enquiry and expresses joy, vulnerability, and wonder.
Ken Miner
Ken is a portrait photographer who uses antique cameras and 19th-century wet plate techniques to create haunting, timeless images. His work is driven by emotion, empathy, and the raw presence captured through his slow, deliberate process. Each tintype he produces feels alive—evoking stories that extend beyond the surface. For Ken, the photograph is not just an image but a vessel for connection, memory, and quiet intensity.
Bill Porter
Bill is a portrait and figurative artist whose work reflects the inner world—states of mind,
moods, and moments of quiet reflection. He uses dramatic lighting to manipulate shadow and form, creating depth and emotional resonance in every piece. Through his nuanced use of light, Bill invites viewers into narratives that honor peace, compassion, and introspection amid the chaos of modern life.
