Justin Orok / Samson Wrote
Join us for these lovely performances before our open mic night this Wednesday!
Justin Orok is a Toronto-based singer-songwriter best known for his intricate, character-driven narrative songwriting. His debut album Kanata, featuring Polaris-prize winning producer Jean Martin (Tanya Tagaq), was released to critical acclaim on Paraphenalia Records in Japan. Releasing in 2025 are two new recordings: Debt, a collection of cover songs by his mentors, and his sophomore full-length album.
Samson Wrote is a post-folk singer-songwriter project combining the songs and sound of Sam Boer (he/they) + friends across Canada. Their debut album, Pigeon—a collection of songs that considered how familial upbringing affects the most intimate moments of life—was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award in the “Pushing the Boundaries” category and praised by Exclaim! as “prolific and expansive,” and his single “Little Parts” was nominated for “Song of the Year” by Folk Music Ontario. Samson Wrote has performed across Canada and Europe, including at festivals like Egersund Visefestival (Norway), Flourish (Fredericton, NB), and Hillside (Guelph, ON). His new album In Season (produced by JoJo Worthington) will be released in 2025.
