Roots & Wings Found Poetry Workshop

Event Description

R&W is aimed at girls, trans, Two-Spirit, and gender non-conforming youth of colour between the ages of 8 and 14 in Kingston, ON. We offer diverse programming that aims to educate, empower and engage youth in social justice topics in fun and engaging ways.
Through Roots and Wings, youth meet bi-weekly to participate in structured programming that:
Introduces them to social justice issues
Allows them to explore their identities
Gives them the opportunity to teach and share skills, and engage with their communities

Join us Saturday March 29th from 1:30pm-3pm for a Found Poetry Workshop! 📝🔍

This creative found poetry activity will invite Roots & Wings Troupes to reflect on what home means to them, harvest words and phrases from other pieces of writing, and craft a poem of their own. ✍🏽

It is an approachable, intuitive, and reflective exercise that youth can easily recreate at home or use in their journalling practice if they would like! 📓

Cette activité créative de poésie trouvée invitera les troupes Roots & Wings à réfléchir à ce que la maison signifie pour elles, à récolter des mots et des phrases à partir d'autres écrits et à créer leur propre poème.

Il s’agit d’un exercice accessible, intuitif et réflexif que les jeunes peuvent facilement recréer à la maison ou utiliser dans leur pratique de journalisation s’ils le souhaitent ! 📓
