Lucy MacNeil touring in support of her solo album, Angels Whisper” (2024) for an intimate show that takes you into the heart of Cape Breton. The album is nominated for three 2025 Canadian Folk Music Awards - Traditional Album of the Year, Traditional Signer of the Year and Emerging Artist of the Year.
Alongside her brothers, Lucy MacNeil has been performing with the Barra MacNeils for 37 years. Coming from a long tradition of Cape Breton music and dance, creating the foundation of their creative pursuits over their musical career. The Barras recorded their first self titled album in 1986, and have continued making music, touring and recording throughout the years. The Barras made several appearances on Rita MacNeil’s CBC variety show from 1994-97. In 2005, they were guests on Rita’s beloved National Christmas tour in Canada.
During the pandemic, Lucy started working on a solo album, something she had wanted to do. She felt in those uncertain times, watching a world undergoing immense change and upheaval, that she wanted to leave something behind of herself and her lifetime attachment to traditional music and song. This culminated into the release of her solo album, Angels Whisper.
