Event Description
Thresher
Fusing elements of kosmische music, free jazz, and post-rock Thresher (Owen Sound, ON) offers a bad trip wrapped in a security blanket. Pushing you to the brink like a disastrous meditation, cacophonous saxophone, noise-rock-inspired guitar, and tape loops, ensure Thresher gives a unique take on improvised music.
Hieronymus Harry
Hieronymus Harry is Harrison Forman. He is a Toronto (Canada) based artist drawing inspiration from all different variations/admixtures of Folk music. Acid folk, experimental folk, freak folk, progressive folk, psychedelic folk. So, naturally, Hieronymus Harry is a deeply 60s-influenced musician, so immediately he caught our attention! “The River Of Doom” was originally released independently on cassette and digitally on November 11th, 2022, and finally after almost one year, 3 different independent labels collaborated for its vinyl release!
“Harry’s music conjures madcap, mystical worlds through naturalistic acoustical performances” … “Harry’s debut album The River of Doom is an odyssey of spellbound surrealistic, outsider folk songs that wholeheartedly embrace weirdness and the present self”…
Matthew Dunn
Matthew “Doc” Dunn is a revered name in underground music circles. From his hometown of Toronto, the polymath multi-instrumentalist has produced a prolific body of work spanning solo releases and collaborations with Jennifer Castle, Kevin Morby, Sunburned Hand of the Man, Woods, and many more. As a member of Matt Valentine and Erika Elder’s (MV & EE) band The Golden Road, he has toured the globe while appearing on countless recordings. This led to the formation of Dunn’s eight-piece ensemble, The Cosmic Range (featuring members from projects as diverse as Lido Pimienta, Sandro Perri, and John Zorn), who earned critical acclaim as U.S. Girls’ backing band on her 2018 album, In A Poem Unlimited.
While he has long been celebrated for his instrumental virtuosity, Dunn’s parallel talents as a singer-songwriter were revealed on his recent series of solo albums.
