Event Description

Our Fall 2024 season opener featuring a double bill of stellar BC fiddlers - Jocelyn Pettit and Olivia Barrett! Each accompanied by accomplished guitarist Adam Dobres.

As a multicultural artist, with Scottish, Irish, French and Malaysian heritage, Jocelyn integrates the Celtic and folk traditions of her roots into her shows and compositions. She has released four critically-acclaimed albums, three as a solo artist and one debut album as a duo with cellist Ellen Gira, which have each garnered multiple award nominations from the Western Canadian Music Awards and Canadian Folk Music Awards.

Summoning a wave of modern nostalgia, Olivia Barrett’s masterful fiddle playing flows seamlessly between the old and the new, breathing life into traditional tunes through the rhythms of contemporary folk. Olivia's debut solo album, Elsewhere (September 2024), gracefully blends her own enchanting melodies with the sounds of her favourite traditional tunes. Drawing on a lifetime's obsession with Irish traditional music, Elsewhere weaves Olivia's fiddle with accordion, guitar, and harp in tunes that journey effortlessly from the delicate to the driving.
