Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering; Everyone welcome jam 6:45pm, Open Stage 7:30pm, Feature Performers The Ecclestons at 9pm; Norway House, 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door
Together for 24 years, touring all over Western Canada and the U.S., The Ecclestons are a Folk band in the true sense of the word: playing music of the people, for the people!
Known for their infectious humour, joyfulness, and harmony, this Victoria-based band has a massive Celtic and Canadian repertoire along-side their own solid songwriting, tackling everything from ‘bombs falling from the sky’ to the fires raging in Alberta and Montana, to siren’s song and dancing outside on a summer night.
The Ecclestons are siblings Colleen (guitar and vocals) and Kelt (bass, penny whistle, and vocals) with adopted brother Greg Madill (bouzouki, mandolin, bodhran and vocals). Growing up in the nomadic tradition of University and Air Force brats, they have lived all across Canada and beyond, bringing a deep worldliness to what they do. Absolute favourites of the VFMS, come prepared to move and be moved by this amazing trio -— their collective energy is profoundly life affirming!
