These open mic nights have been pretty cool so far - great turnout every week, the place is sometimes way too full, the cool thing about these shows is definitely the combination of international travelers (because it's held on the bottom floor of a youth hostel) and cool locals. Jam sessions ensue, people randomly start rapping (and some of them are really good), and there's always something that you'd never expect - one time this polynesian girl brought this crazy metallic instrument from her hometown, it sounded amazing... this guy was in there a few months ago playing really hilarious irish folk songs, some guys have come in with cool guitar/loop sampler/bongo drum setups and filled the room with cool ambience, and I've seen at least five people there whose pure talent totally blew me away. I've also played there, which is really fun. The mood is good, the sound system is good, and the hosts are always really nice foreigners. Stop by around 9:30!
