Music by the Sea's 2023 festival presents a finely-curated program of live classical and jazz music in Victoria (August 1st-5th at the Victoria International Marina) and in Bamfield (July 22nd & 23rd at the Rix Centre for Ocean Discoveries).
Music by the Sea reaches audiences with the music and the musicianship, the artistry and virtuosity, of its company of invited jazz and classical musicians—and by providing audiences with an inspiring and intimate chamber concert experience. "Moving classical and jazz music at every concert. Breathtaking virtuosity. Spectacular seaside settings in two stunning venues. That's how Music by the Sea has enchanted its audiences for over 15 years," reflects Christopher Donison, Artistic Director, adding, "Up-close and comfortable, audiences enjoy a uniquely captivating experience of exceptional music and musicianship."
Among the classical and jazz musicians featured in the 2023 Music by the Sea are: Jasmin Lacasse Roy, classical guitar; Melón Jiménez, flamenco guitar, and Lara Wong, flute; Melody Chan, piano; Chad Ibison, classical guitar, and Janet Grohovac, classical guitar; Louise Rose, piano and vocals; Elliot Freedman, baritone guitar, and Nick Apivor, vibraphone; Kate Wyatt, piano; Adrian Vedady, bass; Sienna Dahlen, vocals; Bill Coon, guitar; Russ Botten, bass; Joe Poole, drums; and John Stetch, piano.
Since 2006, Music by the Sea has presented a jazz and classical music concert series, and has facilitated an artist fellowship program, in Bamfield (at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre), and, in recent years, in Victoria (at the Victoria International Marina).
