Update: keep an eye on our social media (@calliopecollective) for weather announcements -- we are hoping for clear skies on Friday and Saturday, but if there is heavy rain, we may have to postpone. Rain date is Sunday, June 18th.

HYDRA: The Spirit of Water is a story on water. Through a series of floating performative-based art installations, the Calliope Collective will explore our connection to, and relationship with, water. This new gathering has been developed for Kingston Mills Lock Station. We are thrilled to be able to present this beautiful story on water just before Summer Solstice!

We are deeply grateful to have the opportunity to present art on this land, the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee, and the Huron-Wendat.

We hope you will join us in exploring the history of the waterway leading up to the presentations, on your own or by taking part in one of our workshops. Many thanks to the artists who are contributing to this powerful collaboration, our crew of magnificent arts workers and production gurus, and community who contributed to our initial concept development from 2020-2021.

We are fortunate to be recognized by our peers to have received grants and funding from: Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, Kingston Arts Council and the City of Kingston, Canadian Heritage, and our lovely community sponsors the Delta by Marriott Kingston Waterfront, Atkinson Home Hardware, Inner Harbour Marina, Kingston Trolleys and Cruises and the brilliant Swim, Drink, Fish.

Transportation

Kingston Trolley from Pride festivities downtown and shuttle from the Montreal Road/Hwy. 401 carpool to the performance site every ten minutes between 6-7pm. See our website for transportation/parking details!**
