Event Description
Come hear piano trios by Schubert and Brahms played by Township Classics founder and audience favourites: Gwen Thompson Robinow, violin, Robert Holliston, piano, and Lee Duckles, cello.
Franz Schubert composed this one movement work, the Piano Trio in B flat, D 28 in 1812, at the tender age of 15 - apparently in reaction to him losing his treble singing voice and subsequently, his job in Vienna’s Imperial Chapel choir.
In contrast, the Piano Trio in C Major, op 87 is a late work of Johannes Brahms, and written in more relaxed circumstances while he was on holiday in 1886.
A wonderful evening of glorious music performed by superlative musicians!
