Laudate Singers celebrates Canadian music with both new and old pieces written for Laudate by our composers-in-residence.
This will be the first concert to include pieces by André Luiz Machado, the current composer working with us. André is an accomplished composer already, having written for film, television, games and the concert hall. We are pleased to work with him to develop his art through choral composition. The Singers will premiere two songs by André - I am a fountain, You are my water and A Dance of Bliss, both wonderfully multicultural in sound with beautiful mystical, inspiring texts. Michael Creber, our fine pianist, will play two of André's piano works as well.
We're also happy to return to some terrific past commissions by Chris Sivak, Kristopher Fulton, Bruce Sled and Emile Deedes-Vincke.
Rounding out the program are some favourites by Stan Rogers, Donald Patriquin andDave Baker/Larry Nickel.
This variety of rousing folk songs, multicultural inspirations, soft jazzy atmospheres and word painting invoking landscape, is sure to please both ears and spirit.
