Event Description
From Feb 21 to March 28, Vancouver-based artist-educator Chantal Gibson returns to Open Space with A Grammar of Loss: Studies in Erasure, a show of new and recent work building on her 2019 exhibition, How She Read: Confronting the Romance of Empire. Turning towards contested objects to edit, redact, and transform them, the exhibition explores the dis/comfort of engaging in this de/colonial moment, offering a visually poetic response to the question “What does it mean to decolonize a text?” The artist will participate in a community residency March 21-28. There will be an opening reception for the work Friday, Feb 21, 7-9pm.
