An evening with Mel: Mel Gantly

Event Description

Mel Gantly has been playing electric rock and blues in garage bands since he was a teenager, but it wasn’t until Megan Slankard’s ‘A Token of the Wreckage’ album was released in 2011 that he was compelled to buy his first acoustic guitar. Inspired by Slankard’s poetic lyrics and emotionally charged guitar work, and the support of talented friends in a local songwriting circle (aka the ‘Friday Night Garage Sessions’), Mel began writing and performing his own songs at local open mics in 2013. Many of his songs deal with those ‘dark nights of the soul’ everyone has experienced, but always with the hope of finding one’s way back into the light.
