All Around the Circle: An Evening of Lieder and Song
The Vancouver International Song Institute (VISI) and the UVic School of Music presents “All Around the Circle: An Evening of Lieder and Song”. With soprano Martha Guth (U of Mich. Ann Arbor), tenor Benjamin Butterfield (UVic), baritone Tyler Duncan (Metropolitan Opera), and pianists Erika Switzer (Bard College) and Laura Loewen (U of Man).
Join core faculty artists of VISI in a celebration of this remarkable educational institute, which has been a groundbreaking center for Art Song study, performance, and creation for so many musicians throughout Canada and abroad since 2007. This concert is just one of several special events being programmed by VISI to raise public awareness of the Institute’s work. All proceeds from this concert will go towards funds for student scholarships and operating costs for VISI 2016.
VISI fosters energetic engagement in the Art Song genre for artists, teachers, students and audiences. As the Institute continues to grow, VISI's priorities remain the same: to encourage bold approaches to Art Song, grounded in the expressive traditions of the genre and fueled by leading scholarship, unfettered collaborations, and original contributions to the archive.
