Event Description

Marcus Roberts has overcome the challenges of blindness to create a legacy of critically acclaimed music and become one of the world’s most skilled pianists. Chick Corea said Roberts “demonstrates the highest points of artistic integrity and creativeness— [He is] a true inspiration and treasure to us all.”

Only a few years after losing his sight at the age of 5, Marcus Roberts began teaching himself piano. He went on to study classical piano at Florida State University under Leonidus Lipovetsky, where he is now on faculty. At age 21, Roberts began touring with Wynton Marsalis and stayed with the group for 6 years.
