Pacific Sound Collective (Vancouver, BC)
www.pacificsoundcollective.com
Pacific Sound Collective is an original 9-piece instrumental ensemble steeped in the traditions of jazz, afro-beat, hip-hop, funk, soul, and cinematic film scores. Since the band's inception in 2011, Pacific Sound Collective has continued to craft its unique sound and dynamic live show. Their highly engaging performances weave an expansive and evocative experience, which keeps fans coming back for more. The Vancouver based band recently released their first EP, Mai 68.

Kara Kata Afrobeat Group:
http://www.karakatagroup.com/
A big bonfire of a band by the name of Kara-Kata is currently setting the Vancouver music scene ablaze with its full-power renditions of classic West African Afrobeat tracks and original material. Popularized by the great Fela Kuti, Afrobeat music blends funk, jazz, highlife psychedelic rock, juju and traditional rhythms in a whirlwind of ecstatic sound. The band is jamming the dance floor and getting hips swaying to a frenetic tribal pulse. Kara-Kata’s recent monthly performances at the Afrika Shrine (Legion) on Commercial Drive in Vancouver have been generating tons of buzz and the word is definitely getting out there. Founded by bandleader, Toyinirawo Kayo-Ajayi, Kara-Kata is not just a band but also a community, celebrating and sharing the beauty of African/Canadian multiculturalism with dance, music, and fashion through their live performances. Kara-Kata will make their Victoria debut at GCG 2014 and will undoubtebly be one of the highlights of the festival.
