The Travelling Republic is an interdisciplinary collaborative project by artists from Newfoundland and Labrador that celebrates the creative spirit, collaboration, and outlaw imagination. Comprised of events and artworks created individually and collectively by Gerri Lynn Mackey, Ingrid Mary Percy, and the late Colette Urban, The Travelling Republic is both celebratory and elegiacal. The artists are also hosting a YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/channel/UCKn8O_P40gV55i5HEevcNYA), where they will post videos related to the project until the show opens in Victoria on June 27. Register in advance to make an ugly stick (a traditional folk instrument created from a mop handle adorned with bottle caps, bells, and brightly coloured materials) on June 21, or help us out by donating noise makers and decorations!
