Once every three years, Calgary's prestigious Honens International Piano Competition discovers and launches a star. Georgy Tchaidze, a native of St. Petersburg, Russia, was the First Laureate in 2009. He has since performed for the Governor General of Canada, made his stunning debut recording on the Honens label while in residence at The Banff Centre, and appeared as a soloist with the National Arts Centre Orchestra under Pinchas Zukerman among many other engagements worldwide. Tchaidze will perform works by Beethoven and Shostakovich. He will also lead a masterclass on Tuesday, January 15 at 7:00 p.m.
