In Focus is the latest collection of new works by Richard Cole. Born in Edmonton, Richard graduated from Alberta College of Art and Design in 1991 and in 1995 moved to the West Coast of British Columbia to begin his career as a professional artist. Striving to capture the intangible, Richard’s treatment of his favorite places leaves a lasting impression.
“This new body of work is referenced from my favorite places on the West Coast. For inspiration I have fallen into a bit of a pattern. I travel to Hornby Island in August and walk along the beautiful Helliwell trail. The autumn takes me along Howe Sound. In the winter I always try to get to Pacific Rim National Park for storm season. These magical places always inspire me to create my best work. For this series I acknowledge my love of these places and focus on what makes me continually paint these locations. Each time I return I take pictures. Every time I get a different reference for paintings. The different weather and light always create new ways of seeing. In this work I take for granted the familiar settings and focus on the emotional. I concentrate on how these places make me feel and hope to communicate these feelings through the work.”
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
