Event Description
CHRISTIAN ALVAREZ
Delecto Recordings / Vancouver BC
In the summer of 1999 while living in London, Canadian DJ and House producer Christian Alvarez discovered what would turn out to be his greatest passion in life - House Music. Exposed to the world's mecca of club culture Christian's fascination with DJing was instantaneous. A son of a Latin musician who was inspired by funk, soul, disco and pop, Christian's musicality had developed at an early age. In 2000 Christian began Djing; selecting records which were inspired by his roots creating his signature sound of uplifting Funky House.
In 2002, Christian began his work in the studio. Since then he has compiled an impressive discography, which includes more than sixty original and remix productions on labels such as Salted Music, Farplane, Shifted Music, Gossip, Duffnote, One51, Stoneyboy, Born to Dance, Eyezcream, Illegal Beats, Thaisoul, Diamondhouse, Hermosa, SoulHeat and many more.
Whether you prefer his hard hitting, funky club cuts, or his deeper, soulful grooves, international superstar DJs’ such as Roger S, Kaskade, Miguel Migs, Dj Sneak, Mark Farina, Jay-J, Roy Davis Jr, Grant Nelson, Andy Ward, Hardsoul, StoneBridge, Steve Angello and many more have supported his music over the years. Having remixed artists such as StoneBridge, Kid Creme, Rasmus Faber, Tom De Neef, Jay-J, Jask and Kid Massive, to name a few, Christian’s has proven his diversity as an artist. Both his original and remix productions have made their way on several CD compilations including industry heavyweights Hed Kandi, Ministry of Sound, Bargrooves, Armada Music and more.
As a DJ, Christian has performed all over the world. Rocking clubs from San Fran to Miami, Zurich to St. Petersburg, his unique flavour of soulful, yet bumping House music has left clubbers shaking their booties until the morning light. In 2007 he recorded his first mixed CD entitled, “VIP”, which featured releases from his own Delecto including artists such as Born to Funk, Stereo Mutants, Justin Michael, MoD and more. The CD was featured at the 2007 WMC and was soon released in music stores across the globe.
Now a sought after producer and owner of his own imprint, Delecto Recordings, Christian continues to cement his place in the world of Canadian House music. 2010 has already seen the release of his most popular single to date, “The Way” licensed to Miguel Migs’s Salted Music. He also recently released “Hands in the Air” on Diamondhouse Records, which featured a speaker-rumbling remix by The Good Guys that has received massive support all over the world. With more original and remix productions forthcoming on Salted Music, Shifted Music, SoulHeat, Delecto and more, Christian appears busier than ever, which is just the way you likes it.
NATRON
Sunset Labs / Victoria
For Nathan Docksteader aka Natron the fascination and future inspiration for and from electronic music began in the late 90's after hearing the cutting edge music being played and produced by Sasha & John Digweed, Dave Seaman, Nick Warren and others who were all at the head of the pack, leading the way and focused on the underground sounds of progressive house music.
As his interest and passion for electronic music grew he knew he had to find a way to share this intense emotion and calling with others. The medium of choice was obvious – In early 2003 Natron hit the decks and began DJing with a solid foundation of inspiration and experiences to draw from.
2004 was the year that opened up and further focused Nathan’s life as an artist more than almost any other. Meeting the Moreh brothers (a.k.a. Shiloh) truly helped shape and define the way Natron played music and gave him insights into how he listened to and what he heard in music and further cemented his already firm foundation that has thus enabled him to continually evolve and grow.
Fast forward now to 2010 and feeling incredibly inspired by rolling funky minimal grooves, Natron has taken his musical direction to more of an energetic fusion of organic techno and house, laden with percussion rolls, synth stabs and smooth basslines. With his inherent gift for track selection and programming Natron's ability to move a dancefloor in one cohesive sweaty groove is unmatched.
With a full schedule of shows on his plate and Natron's addition to the Sunset Collaborations team, 2010 is shaping up to be a breakthrough year for this committed artist!
