Event Description
The Slag is not a vitreous byproduct, a Transformer, or even a British whore. It's an exciting new star in the electronic world. In just under a year the Slag has accomplished some amazing feats garnering worldwide recognition. His debut album was one of the top selling releases on Donald Glaude's Eden Recordings. His first music video was syndicated by IGN, one of the largest entertainment pages on the internet. He has been fea...tured in Mixmag, The Comedy Network, Weekly Indie, and Wicked Style Magazine. He has official remixes for the likes of K-Os, Metric, Soulfix, and Paul Anthony to name a few. Even before beginning his solo venture, the Slag spent a year across the sea's as part of the underground electronic sensations D2. In Tokyo Japan D2 claimed residencies at two of the largest clubs in the country: ageHa and Atom. They were voted both 'Best Electronic Act' and 'Best Newcomers' in numerous publications, and won first place in the 2008 Tokyo DJ Competition. In 2009 they were touted as being the 'Best Local Electronic Act' by iFlyer magazine. They were also featured frequently on 97.5FM Power Dance Radio, and became constant top 10 contenders in the largest dance directory in the country.
Upon returning to North America, the Slag began working on his first solo productions. His first single saw him voted first place in the Universal Records K-Os remix competition. At the tail end of 2009 The Slag's work caught the eye of Donald Glaude's Eden Recordings who released his first album "Blasphemy". Nearly 4 months after its release it maintained the top position on Eden's Beatport top 10 selling tracks. Following its success he continued to release a series of chart topping singles on numerous labels. Teaming up with Champion Beats near the end of 2010 saw the release of the "Midnight Express EP", which received enormous critical praise and commercial success. The music video for 'Hit The Record Button' was syndicated by IGN Entertainment, and received 6000 views in the first day alone. The Slag has also been a guest on numerous radio shows and recently performed on Digitally Imported Radio to one of the largest audiences the channel has received. In 2011 the Slag was scouted by DandyKid Records, one of the largest electronic labels in the UK to produce a new EP slated to be released in Spring, combined with a North American tour to promote the album.
