Playwright Alan Bennett is best known for his renowned plays The Madness of King George III and The History Boys, both of which were turned into critically acclaimed films. Along with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, Alan Bennett was also one of the founders of Beyond the Fringe, an influential hilarious English revue that was one of the precursors to the legendary comedy troupe, Monty Python and the Flying Circus.
