Event Description

THE FAMILY STUMP w/ VERY GOOD and MARIA IN THE SHOWER
The Family Stump, Vancouver's most hilariously inappropriate redneck country band, brings you the city's finest and most preposterous annual Christmas Celebration. Evoke the spirit of giving (and taking) with the most lovingly dysfunctional clan you ever done seen. With special guest STUMPACLAUSE! Yes, he will be bringing gifts, but you may not wanna take 'em home...
THE FAMILY STUMP
The Family Stump hails from Buckfluff Township and are a simple folk, placing great importance in community, kinship, and spreading the word of love. This has been particularly troubling to a wide range of law enforcement officials and voices for the maintenance of respectable societal standards, but the family has so far remained free to engage in the most preposterous musical tomfoolery ever seen in these here parts. The Stump Family are known as a subversively clever clan, renowned for their insane live shows, replete with plastic baby and individually wrapped veggie wiener giveaways, and unpredictable romantic-type behavior. They also lay down some seriously catchy country tunes and beautifully twangy ballads with lyrics that make your head spin, your heart melt and your stomach turn. Like an extra limb resulting from genetic "sharsies", the Stump Army is growing as we speak. Spread the love and avoid the authorities!

VERY GOOD
This music is philosophical and absurd, the performance straddling the line between drama and sincere song. Very Good is like confused chamber music finding itself drunk in the basement, where something caused things to get a bit silly for a moment, and then serious, and then bitter at its own seriousness, to the point where it must throw it's hands up as if to say "what a fool I've been for not staying silly this whole time".
MARIA IN THE SHOWER
Maria in the Shower brings together music and theatre in an inspiring romp through North American musical history. With innovative arrangements that honour tradition yet look boldly forward, the band creates a remarkably diverse tapestry of blues, balladry, folk and jazz. The result is a show that is both raw with intensity yet polished with a strong sense of craft and purpose.
With a strong songbook and energy to spare, this young band of creative minstrels are quickly leaving in their wake a trail of devoted fans eager to hop into the shower with Maria again and again.
