Event Description
No music represents the joy and magnificence of the Christmas season better than the music of the Baroque masters: in this case, two Bachs - Johann Sebastian and the most famous of his composing sons, Carl Philipp Emanuel - as well as Antonio Vivaldi, the Italian composer who was an important influence on the elder Bach. Come to the magnificent Orpheum Theatre to hear the Vancouver Chamber Choir with soloists and orchestra for A Baroque Christmas. One centrepiece is JS Bach’s famous cantata Wachet auf! BWV 140 which includes one of the most memorable Bach tunes of all time. Another is CPE’s Magnificat, which was a bridge from his father’s style to that of the young Mozart.
